I work with words. Some words take longer to say than others and that's why they're sounded out/sung. Sometimes I use my whole self to get the words out, sometimes I use the page to do some of the work for me. I have lots of varied, fun and, I hope, thoughtful projects: writing poetry books, recording as a singer and lyricist, performing on stage as an actor, sound artist/performance artist and sharing ideas as a scholar and college professor. Lately I've just described myself as someone who performs language. It seems short, simple and true enough!
